City & Docklands announce creative collaboration with local West London artist David Samuel from RareKind Studios, together with the launch of art based website Art Without limits.

City & Docklands is excited to announce a new collaboration with local artist and founder of Rarekind Studios, David Samuel, bringing over 500 unique pieces of art to residential development One West Point. The collaboration sees the delivery of works of art to every residential floor, across 4 buildings and 701 homes, in North Acton.

The partnership also delivers installations and murals by an array of commissioned artists throughout the development. The commissioned artists include Sophie Mess, Jiver and Bonzai, who have created impressive works that will be on display for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Felicity Young, Head of Group Brand & Communications at City & Docklands expressed her excitement about the project, commenting: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with such talented artists and designers to bring a unique and inspiring collection of artwork to our flagship development in the heart of the UK’s most exciting regeneration area, within the OPDC. Our goal is to create an environment that celebrates local creativity and talent, and we believe this project is an excellent opportunity to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the art and creative scene in our community.”

David Samuel, the founder of RareKind Studios, also shared his enthusiasm for the project: “We are excited to be working with City & Docklands on their flagship project One West Point, together with the talented artists involved in this collaboration creating a dynamic and visually stunning collection of artworks that will truly transform the living spaces of this new development. We believe that art has the power to inspire, uplift, and connect people, and we are excited and honoured to be a part of this project.”

To support the project, the team is launching Art Without Limits – a dedicated website that showcases all the artworks at One West Point, together with news and information about local artists and events. Park Royal is home to the Park Royal Design District (PRDD) which brings together and highlights the melting pot of creativity in the area and which will be exhibiting for it’s third year as a Design District as part of the London Design Festival (LDF).

Art Without Limits is dedicated to supporting emerging and established artists and designers by providing a platform where they can showcase their work and connect with residents, the local community and visitors to the area. Through collaborations like this with RareKind Studios and local artists, City & Docklands aims to promote creativity and cultural diversity, and to inspire new generations of artists and art enthusiasts.

City & Docklands and RareKind Studios plan to hold art gallery events at One West Point, providing a further platform for local artists and an opportunity for residents and visitors to engage with the artworks, meet the artists, and learn more about the creative process behind each piece.

‘Flow’ by David Samuel

July 1, 2023

RareKind and Park Royal-based artist, David Samuel, has been commissioned by SCS to produce a 35-meter long artwork called “Flow”. This artwork wraps around the HS2 conveyor structure where it intersects with the Grand Union Canal. David Samuel has a personal connection to the canal, having grown up in the area and currently residing and working at Excelsior Studios in Park Royal. For “Flow”, he drew inspiration from the canal’s evolving hues and forms, as well as the interplay between nature and industry in the vicinity. The end result is an abstracted pattern that pays tribute to the canal’s continual motion.
